Get ready for an evening buzzing with excitement as River Bend Nature Center proudly presents Bug Fest, returning bigger and better than ever! Join us on Friday, June 14th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for an unforgettable encounter with the world of bugs. Feel the curious crawl of a 10-inch millipede and gaze into the eight eyes of a tarantula. Delve into the captivating world of insects and gain insight into their vital role in our ecosystem.

Embark on a journey of discovery with activities suitable for all ages. Explore OSU’s Insect Adventure, where you can interact with a diverse array of insects firsthand. Engage in a thrilling Bug Hunt Contest, participate in Bug Games, and unleash your creativity with Buggy Crafts. Don’t miss the chance to showcase your bug-inspired attire in our Bug Costume Contest!

Immerse yourself in the enchanting “Bug Stop” Live Collection curated by River Bend, and wander through the mesmerizing “Peyton’s Place” Butterfly Exhibit housed in the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for children, with free admission for ages one and under. RBNC Members enjoy a special discount of one dollar off per member. Don’t miss this enthralling celebration of all things buggy!

Bug Fest FAQs

Do you have on-site parking?

Yes, we have parking in front of the facility, and a spacious un-paved lot across the street. You can also use the parking lot down the hill after 5 pm on weekdays, and anytime on weekends.

How much is admission?

Adults are $7, children are $6, and ages one and under are free. RBNC Members receive a dollar off per member. All crafts and games are included.

What happens if it rains?

If the event is canceled due to weather we will post on Facebook, our website, email, and send the information to local news outlets.

What should I wear for the Costume Contest? Are their prizes?

Dress up as your favorite insect! There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for the best costume.

Who can participate in the Costume Contest?

All attendees are welcome, but it is geared for children.

What time is the Costume Contest?

The costume contest starts at 7:45 p.m.  Please line up in the pavilion. Numbers will be passed out.  Place them in an easy-to-read location on your costume.

How much are games?

All games are free. There will be prizes at each game.

How much are crafts?

All crafts are free.
