Camp is held at River Bend Nature Center located at 2200 3rdStreet, at the corner of Sunset Drive and Third Street. Camp River Bend is an outdoor camp. Camp sessions will be held inside during inclement weather. In the event of severe weather, please contact the River Bend Nature Center office at 940-767-0843.

It’s time to register for Summer Camps at River Bend Nature Center. Join in on all the cool activities and make new friends as you explore nature and science! Camps are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12 pm. We have four camps to choose from this summer. You can come to one or all four!!
Dinosaurs ROCK: June 10th-June 14th
Ready, set, roar for dinosaurs! Campers will dig for dinosaur bones and fossils, build a dinosaur, discover dinosaurs that lived in Texas and create a fossil and dinosaur footprint.
Animal Adventures: June 24th-June 28th
Prepare to explore the world of animals! Campers will go on a track hunt, explore the critters in our pond, meet local animals, dissect an owl pellet, and make animal tracks!
Mad Science Lab: July 8th-12th
Ready to step inside the mad science lab? Campers will explore the world of science from biology to geology, construct a science tool kit, extract DNA from strawberries, make a multitude of slime concoctions, build a battery, and make their own rock collections!
Junior Engineer: July 22nd-26th
Like to design, create, and build? Build a renewable energy gizmo, construct a bridge, build and launch a paper rocket, construct an earth shelter, and create a bristle bot!
All of our summer camps involve exploration of the Nature Trail, Nature and Butterfly Conservatory, Children’s Garden, and Learning Center. Registration fills up fast, so hurry and sign up today! All forms must be received by 5 pm the Wednesday before each camp. Camp is for ages 4-12. The cost is $90 for RBNC members, $100 for non-members. See you at Camp River Bend!

Where is Camp River Bend held?
Where do we drop off and pick up campers?
Camp River Bend is from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, campers may be dropped off no earlier than 8:15 am and must be picked up no later than 12:15 pm.
4-5-year-old session– Parents or guardians will need to sign their children in and out each day in the Library, located inside the Learning Center. Only parents/guardians/designated adults listed on the camper’s form will be allowed to pick up campers. Please bring a photo ID.
6-12-year-old session– Parents or guardians will need to sign their children in and out each day in the Pavilion, located outside. Only parents/guardians/designated adults listed on the camper’s form will be allowed to pick up campers. Please bring a photo ID.
How do I register a camper and what is the deadline?
Space is limited. Camp River Bend is filled on a first-enrolled basis and may fill up prior to the registration deadline.
Please complete the Camp River Bend Registration form found below. This form along with payment is required for registration, and they are due on or before 5:00 pm on Wednesday before the session you wish to attend. No registrations will be taken after this deadline. The 6-12-year-old group has a maximum of 40 campers, and the 4-5-year-old group has a maximum of 12 campers.
If you wish to fill out a paper copy of the registration form and make your payment in person, hard copy forms are available in the gift shop.
What are the requirements for campers to attend?
Camp River Bend is for ages 4-12.
Campers must be potty trained and will be placed in groups according to ages.
What should the camper bring with them?
During camp, many “make and take” crafts and activities will be made by your child. Please send a backpack with your child to help carry the crafts home each day.
Campers should wear comfortable clothes that could get dirty during creativity and closed-toed shoes. Sunscreen and a hat are good ideas. We will not be providing insect repellent or sunscreen. Please apply any sunscreen or insect repellent before camper arrives.
Please send a water bottle and snack marked with your child’s name on it.
Anything else I should know?
An adult staff member will supervise camp activities. We have a staff to camper ratio of approximately 1:10.
The gift shop will be available at the end of each day’s camp for purchases.
