River Bend Nature Center is having their 14th Annual Not-So-Scary Halloween this year on Friday, October 12th from 6-9 pm. There will be a costume contest starting at 7:30 pm, face painting, music, tasty food, cool games, fun crafts, a cake walk, pumpkin decorating, candy, a Flashlight Fun Trail through the United Children’s Garden, and Wild Bird Rescue’s feathered ambassadors of the sky will make a special appearance! DJ Marcus “Maniac” McGee will be DJing throughout the night. The Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory will also be open for you to enjoy. So dress up in your favorite costume and come on out to Not-So-Scary on October 12th at River Bend Nature Center from 6 pm to 9 pm and join in on all the fun! River Bend is located at 2200 3rd St. near the main entrance to Lucy Park.

All games are free with the exception of our Cupcake Walk, each “walk” is $1.00. Cash only at the booth. Cupcake Walk tickets can be purchased with a credit or debit card in Gift Shop if needed.
How much does food cost?
Hotdogs are $2, assorted chips, cookies etc. are all $1. Cash only at the booth. Food and drink tickets can be purchased with a credit or debit card in Gift Shop if needed.
Where do I park?
Parking can be found in our main lot, directly across the street, at the bottom of the hill on 3rd street in the city lot, Lucy Park, and up and down 4th street. Please do not block driveways, gates, or other vehicles. Volunteers will be directing traffic. Please follow their instructions.
What time is the Costume Contest?
The costume contest starts at 7:30 p.m. Please line up in the pavilion. Numbers will be passed out. Place them in an easy to read location on your costume.
Who can participate in the Costume Contest?
All attendees are welcome, but it is geared for children.
What are the Costume Contest categories?
Cutest, Funniest, Spookiest, and Most Creative costumes. There will be a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for each category.
What happens if it rains?
If the event is canceled due to weather we will post on Facebook, our website, email, and send the information to local news outlets.
