Sip N’ Science- Scale Tales (21 & Up)

Fri, March 22 @ 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

  • Learn about Texas native snakes
  • Discuss the value of snakes
  • Interact with our slithery friends
  • Wine, beer, and hor d’oeuvres included!

Join us for an unforgettable evening of learning about our slithery friends at River Bend! Presented by our Exhibits Manager Kevin Seman, get ready for a whirlwind presentation all about Texas’s native snakes. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to sip on your favorite beverages, savor delicious hor d’oeuvres, and engage with these fascinating creatures up close!

Kevin will guide participants through the general anatomy, structure, and the purposes of these features. From the iconic Western Diamondback to the elusive Texas Rat Snake, examine the anatomical differences between a rich variety of native snake species. Delve into the diet and habits of snakes that benefit ecosystems and discuss how these manners benefit humans.

Engage in a thought-provoking discussion about the ecological importance of snakes in the Texas ecosystem. Learn about how snakes control populations of local vermin, rodents, and even other snakes! Kevin will explain how and where snakes fit into the local food web, and what happens when snakes are eliminated from their environments.

Participants will also have the opportunity to meet some of our reptilian friends who live at RBNC! Sippers will be able to touch, interact with, and get an up close view at the movement and proper way to handle snakes. With the guidance of our presenter, guests can experience an unforgettable adventure with many local, non-venomous species that reside with us at RBNC.

Whether you’re a seasoned herpetologist or a novice reptile enthusiast, “Sip n’ Science: Scale Tales” promises to be an evening filled with education, exploration, and enjoyment. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a fun night out learning about the wonders of native Texas wildlife!
