Sip’n Science- Backyard Birding!

Love birdwatching and want to learn more about the science behind it, all while sipping on their favorite beverage? Join us for Sip n’ Science: Backyard Birding on May 19th from 6:30-8:30 pm!

During the event, participants will be introduced to the basics of backyard birding by Dr. Marcy Brown Marsden who will share her knowledge on identifying different bird species, their behaviors, and how to attract them to your backyard!

In addition to the educational aspect of the event, participants will have the opportunity to socialize with other birdwatching enthusiasts while enjoying drinks and light refreshments. They can share their experiences, ask questions, and learn from one another.

Whether you are a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about the fascinating world of backyard birding!

$25 per person, $20 for RBNC Members. For ages 21 and up.

Presenter Bio

Dr. Marcy Brown Marsden studied birds in Alaska, Alcatraz Island, Panama, Costa Rica, and Texas and consulted on museum projects for the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Dallas Museum of Art, and the Wichita Falls Museum of Art. Formerly the dean of MSU’s McCoy College of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering, she now serves as Interim Provost and VPAA. She is an academic administrator and professor passionate about ecology, good science, research, and engaging the public through science outreach.
