Join us for a captivating and hands-on experience at our Sip ‘n Science: Ceramic Creations! Unleash your inner artist and scientist as we blend creativity and learning in a unique and engaging evening!

During this event, Steven will shed light on the significance of ceramics as an art form, emphasizing the unique characteristics of his creations and their impact on the world of contemporary art. With his expertise, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in sculpting and the creative processes that bring his artworks to life.

As we explore Steven Hilton’s portfolio, Steve will share his stories and inspirations, from the natural world to human emotions, and how he skillfully blends them into his creations, hopefully leaving an impression on his audience

Sippers will also discover the science behind ceramics – from the chemistry of glazes to the physics of firing. Steven will delve into the world of material properties, kiln temperatures, and more. Get ready to get your hands dirty and mold your imagination into reality with clay.

Sip n’ Sculpt offers a unique opportunity to witness the artistic journey of Steven Hilton, gaining insights into his artistic practice, philosophy, and techniques. Participants will also have the chance to learn about the incredible variety of ceramic styles he employs, from functional art to awe-inspiring sculptures.

$25 per person, $20 for RBNC Members. For ages 21 and up.

Presenter Bio

Steve Hilton earned his MFA at Arizona State University (2005). He also holds degrees in Art Education and Environmental Geology from Missouri State University. He has taught science and art at the secondary and post-secondary levels, and his work has been collected by museums, universities and individuals in India, Singapore, Korea, Slovenia, Thailand, Australia, Austria, Portugal, China, Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Romania, USA, and Cuba. He has been juried and invited into over 200 international and national exhibitions in conjunction with curated and solo exhibitions in the USA. Steve is The Fain Professor of Fine Arts in ceramics and art education at MSU Texas and is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics and a Fellow of the Council of NCECA (The National Council on the Education for the Ceramic Arts).

Is it BYOB?

No, wine and beer are distributed by a TABC-certified bartender. Please bring your ID with you to the event.

Do you have to be 21 and up to attend?

Yes.

I don’t have a PayPal account, how can I pay?

We have several ways of accepting payments! You can come to the Nature Gift Shop at RBNC any time during business hours, we can take your payment over the phone, you can send in a check, or you can check out using PayPal as a guest. Registration will not be complete until RBNC has your form and payment. Give us a call at 940-767-0843 if you have any questions!
