RBNC Summer Camps!

Mon, June 5 @ 8:30 am Fri, July 28 @ 12:00 pm

Join in on all the cool activities and make new friends as you explore nature and science at Camp River Bend! Camps are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12 pm. Camp is for ages 4-11, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm, $100 RBNC Members and $110 for Non-Members.

Please note this camp is located in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Nature Rangers! June 5th – June 9th

Put on your hiking shoes, grab your walking stick, and your adventuring hat to become a part of the River Bend Nature Rangers! Campers will enjoy a variety of exciting activities, including making animal tracks, examining animal pelts and skulls, getting up close and personal with rescued critters during an RBNC Animal Show, exploring the pond, searching for evidence of creatures on the trail, and much more!

Mad Science Lab! June 19th-June 23rd

Are you ready to enter the mad science lab! Campers will immerse themselves in the exciting world of science, covering topics ranging from biology to geology. They will construct their own science tool kits, extract DNA from strawberries, create various slime concoctions, build batteries, and even make their very own rock collections!

Roar for Dinosaurs! July 10th – July 14th

Get ready to roar with the dinosaurs! Campers will have the opportunity to dig for dinosaur bones and fossils, build their very own dinosaurs, explore the different types of dinosaurs that once roamed the state of Texas, and even create their own fossils and dinosaur footprints. Join in the fun and discover the wonders of the prehistoric world!

Crazy ‘Bout Critters! July 24th – July 28th

Get ready to embark on an exciting journey through the animal kingdom! Campers will go on a track hunt, explore the critters in our pond, meet local animals, dissect owl pellets, and even create their very own animal tracks. Join us for an adventure that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the wonders of the animal world!

All of our camps involve exploration of the trail and exhibits. Registration fills up fast, so hurry and sign up using the form below today! Summer Camp FAQ

I don’t have a PayPal account, how can I pay?

We have several ways of accepting payments! You can come to the Nature Gift Shop at RBNC any time during business hours, we can take your payment over the phone, you can send in a check, or you can check out using PayPal as a guest. Registration will not be complete until RBNC has your form and payment. Give us a call at 940-767-0843 if you have any questions!

Is the online form not letting you submit your information?

The Online Camp Registration Form will not let you submit your form if you are missing a required field. After you try to submit, these fields will be highlighted in red. See below. You must reenter the missing information and reenter the captcha at the bottom of the form and resubmit. Successful submission will take you to a PayPal page if you do not have a PayPal account you can check out as a guest using a credit card by clicking that link at the bottom of the PayPal screen. Become a Junior Camp Counselor!

  • Become a Junior Camp Counselor this year! Assist our camp directors with cool activities and make new friends as you explore nature and science with our camp attendees! Camps are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12 pm. We have five camps to choose from this year. You can become a counselor for one or all five! Please keep in mind that this is an outdoor event. You also must be at least 12 years of age or older to become a Junior Camp Counselor. After signing up for one (or as many as you would like) camps, you will receive a confirmation email with more information about the event!     Volunteer Registration and Release Form

    I understand that I am offering my services on a voluntary basis without anticipation of financial compensation. I am volunteering solely for the purpose of helping RBNC achieve its mission and goals of educating the public about the natural environment of Texas. I agree to abide by the rules and regulations set forth by RBNC as they relate to the position I am volunteering for. I herewith release and hold harmless River Bend Nature Center and its Board, and their officers, agents, and employees from any and all claims by myself or my family or assignees, which may arise from the performance of the duties, for which I am volunteering and while traveling from said duties. I understand that it will be necessary for RBNC to check my background and my references, as is determined by the particular activity for which I am volunteering. I hereby give consent for the information exchange and authorize any agency or person having such information pertaining to me or my background to release any and all information to RBNC.

How do I register a camper and what is the deadline?

Space is limited. All camps are filled on a first-enrolled basis and may fill up prior to the registration deadline. 6–11-year-old session camp has a maximum of 40 campers and a minimum of 10. 4–5-year-old session of camp has a maximum of 12 campers and a minimum of 10 campers. If this minimum requirement is not met, the camp will be canceled.

You can complete registration and payment online at RiverBendNatureCenter.org. If you wish to fill out a paper copy of the registration form and make your payment in person, forms are available in the River Bend Gift Shop. Our hours are Mon.-Fri. 10 am – 6 pm, Sat. 10 am – 4 pm, and Sun. 12 – 4 pm. Registration forms along with payment are required for registration, and they are due on or before 6:00 pm the Wednesday before the session you wish to attend. No registrations will be taken after this deadline.

What’s RBNC refund policy?

Due to limited space, refunds will not be issued.

Anything else I should know?

An adult staff member will supervise camp activities.  We have a staff-to-camper ratio of approximately 1:10.

The gift shop will be available at the end of each day’s camp for purchases.

What should the camper bring with them?

Water bottle- Write your child’s name on it.

Snack- Write your child’s name on it. Snacks will not be provided by RBNC.

Backpack- Will be used to carry water and snacks and to help carry activities home each day

Comfortable clothes, jacket, and close-toed shoes- They will get dirty during outdoor adventures. Also, We will spend most of the time outside, so proper clothing for weather conditions will be required.

Insect repellent/sunscreen- We will not be providing insect repellent or sunscreen, please apply before the camper arrives.

What are the requirements for campers to attend?

Camp is for ages 4-11.

Campers must be capable of following instructions to keep themselves and other children safe.

Campers must be able to use the bathroom independently.

Campers will be placed in groups according to age.

Where do we drop off and pick up campers?

Camp is from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm; campers may be dropped off no earlier than 8:15 am and must be picked up no later than 12:15 pm.

Parents will not exit their vehicles. The camper will be taken by camp personnel upon arrival and taken back to their vehicle at the end of the day. Enter the parking using the entrance by the gift shop, pull up to the iron gates in front of the pavilion. Do not park, and do not unload your child until our camp attendant instructs you to. Sign in and sign out will occur in your vehicle. Exit immediately using the other entrance to the parking lot.

Drop Off: Drop off will occur at the Pavilion gates. Enter the parking lot using the entrance by the gift shop, pull up to the Pavilion gates. Do not park, and do not unload your child until our camp attendant instructs you to. Exit the parking lot immediately after drop off.

Pick Up: Pick up from camp will occur at the Pavilion gates. Enter the parking lot using the entrance by the gift shop, pull up to the Pavilion gates. A camp attendant will bring you your child. Exit the parking lot immediately after pick up.

Only parents/guardians/designated adults listed on the camper’s form will be allowed to pick up campers. Please bring a photo ID.

No parents or guardians can visit the camp during or between camp sessions, except to drop-off and pick-up campers.

If an early release of the camper is needed, parents or guardians must call ahead. If you arrive later than 9 am, please check-in in at the Gift Shop. 

Where is Camp River Bend held?

Camp is held at River Bend Nature Center located at 2200 3rd Street, at the corner of Sunset Drive and 3rd Street in Wichita Falls, TX. Camp River Bend is an outdoor camp. Camp sessions will be held inside during inclement weather. In the event of severe weather, please contact the River Bend Nature Center office at 940-767-0843.
