STEM Ecology

STEM Ecology includes all components of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Includes both station and trail activities, and a live animal presentation. There is a different STEM Ecology Program for each grade level and it correlates with specific TEKS for each grade level.

Please arrive on time, and depart on time. Confirmations of the date and time are sent prior to the field trip date. Please call the office, 767-0843, to let us know if buses are running late. Our field guide staff members report to duty based on the field trip schedule each day. We cannot lengthen the field trip if a group is late, our guides schedule may not allow them to stay any longer than the schedule indicated.

What else should we know?

Picnic tables, water fountains, and restroom facilities are available. You are welcome to stay after the program and eat lunch or snacks. Please do not leave children unattended.

What is the field guide to student ratio?

Approximately one field guide per 10 students. If you have more than 50 students, the groups will be larger.

How many of us can visit?

Field Trips can be tailored to up to 80 students. STEAM and STEM programs can be tailored to up to 40 students. Each program has a minimum price (unless grant-funded). If you have a larger group, please call 940-767-0843 early to make special arrangements.

What is the fee?

  • 2-hour field trips have a minimum price of $70 which covers 10 students*, additional students are $7 per student.
  • 3- hour programs have a minimum price of $80 which covers 10 students*, additional students are $8 per student.
  • 4- hour programs have a minimum price of $100 which covers 10 students*, additional students are $10 per student.
  • There is no fee for grant funded programs.
*Groups with less than 10 kids are still required to pay the minimum price for the program.

To ensure a favorable time, it is better to schedule as early in advance as possible, 4-6 weeks if possible. Field trips are available throughout the year. Your program date will be confirmed by e-mail after you submit a reservation request.

  • Please fill out the form below. A confirmation email will be sent to you noting the time and date of your reservation based on your choices below and current availability.   • Please select your first, second, and third choice for your field trip. Dates and times will be filled on a first come first served basis.

  • Total number of chaperones required (N/A for adult groups): 1 Adult per 10 Children (One chaperone is required to accompany each field guide & will be admitted free. Please bring one chaperone/10 students. Additional adults will be charged the fee per person listed above)
  • A few reminders to make your visit the best!
  • 1. Please wear comfortable, close-toed, sturdy shoes.
  • 2. Be observant of the weather conditions and dress appropriately.
  • 3. Place a name tag on each child.
  • 4. Divide your class/group into groups of 10.
