Community Service FAQ’s

How many hours are you required to work a day?

Since we only schedule 2 workers a day, the minimum is 3 hours. You can work the full day if you wish.

How many community service workers do you accept a day?

Only two workers are scheduled per day. Scheduling begins at 10 am, and it is first-call first-scheduled.

Do you have severe allergies?

RBNC has cats (free range), ferrets, rats, and the great outdoors. If you have severe allergies please complete your hours at another location.

What kind of activities will I be doing?

Most activities are related to cleaning and maintaining the center.

Work will be assigned one task at a time and will be checked by an RBNC employee before another assignment is given.  If the task is not done correctly, you will be asked to redo the work before given another assignment. If this continues to happen, you will no longer be eligible to complete your hours at RBNC.

How do I get on the schedule?

You must fill out a community service application either online (see below) or in person. Check-in at the Gift Shop and they will give you the forms. After your application has been approved, you can call 940-767-0843 after 10:00 a.m. on the day that you want to work. Available slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You can schedule your hours between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday – Friday. Community service will not be scheduled during field trips or other events.

What is the dress code?

Our dress code is the same as school dress code. Tank tops, inappropriate t-shirts, caps or hats with inappropriate logos, and pajamas cannot be worn. Tattoos and piercings must be covered. Shorts must be knee length. Appropriate undergarments must be worn and adequately covered. Shoes must be appropriate for outdoor work. Flip flops are not allowed.  Extreme hair color must be covered. If someone shows up dressed inappropriately, they will be sent home to change and may return if they come back dressed appropriately.

Any RBNC employee may tell CS to go home if they are dressed inappropriately.

Who keeps track of my hours?

You are in charge of making sure that the time worked is reported to the correct authorities. RBNC records all time worked but you are in charge of bringing in the needed forms and turning them in. RBNC will not scan/fax/email any documentation.

What age do I need to be in order to do community service?
