Want to focus on a particular activity? See below for details.

Field Guide: Field guides are needed year-round to lead groups and field trips around River Bend Nature Center’s facilities and trails. Field guides also go off-site to teach different campuses throughout our community. Training provided by RBNC.

Conservatory Docents: As a docent, you will lead guests through the Bryant Edwards Learning Center Exhibit Hall and Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. Also, you will interact with children and adults through hands-on presentations. Training provided by RBNC.

Office/Clerical: Filing, computer data entry, copying, hang up fliers, run errands, mailings, answer phones etc. This is available Monday thru Friday. Training provided by RBNC.

Nature Store/Front Desk: If you’re a people person, and like retail, this is the place for you. Activities would include admissions, inventory, and pricing, etc. Training provided by RBNC.

Gardening: If you enjoy working with your hands the garden is a wonderful place to volunteer. You would help maintain our children’s garden and conservatory, by weed pulling, removing exotic species, seed collecting, planting, and watering. Training provided by RBNC.

Trail Maintenance: If you enjoy the outdoors, then trail maintenance is the job for you. You would ensure trail is accessible by removing debris and trash, attract wildlife by maintaining bird feeders and improve habitat by removing non-native species. Training provided by RBNC.

Butterfly Propagation: Like butterflies? Then this is the place for you! Grow host plants, collect butterfly eggs/caterpillars, clean caterpillar cages, prepare caterpillar food, and prepare chrysalis (pupa).

Events: If you would like to help out on a short-term basis, then helping with events is a good opportunity to do just that. You can help plan and coordinate events, help with setup and clean up, register vendors, work admissions, serve food and beverages, pick up and deliver items, organize parking, hang up fliers, gift shop security, and/or assist with crafts.

Maintenance: Do you like fixing stuff? Then maintenance is the place for you. You can assist with building upkeep, small repairs, construction, and electrical repairs.
